As Commedia Zuppa, Todd Espeland and Allison Williams create original works using Masks, Commedia Dell'Arte, Circus and Physical Theatre, design and build masks, share these techniques, as goals in themselves and as applicable to actor training, with student and professional actors through residencies, performances, and work involving non-company members.

Our philosophy of work is one of collaborative creation and the exploration of theatre as a physical form.

Based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, we present performances, workshops, and residencies throughout North America, including work Off-Broadway and for theatre festivals, professional theatres, universities and schools.

Commedia Zuppa-created work includes the family show Boxhead and the award-winning solo show True Story,as well as traditional texts including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Scapino!, Endgame, Waiting for Godot, The Tale of Tsuru and A Servant to Two Masters.
